Rebecca bought this at Banz market for 10 toia (the smallest coin in circulation). The seller claimed it was a “cucumber.”


Our rector was baffled as to its identity. All he could verify was that the seller was lying . . .

Rebecca put it in a stir-fry and I ate it without noticing, thinking it was a green pepper.  I was worried that we were going to have a “there’s death in the pot” incident as in 2 Kings, but the mystery proved innocuous.
