Annie and Tabitha’s birthday party

Anastasia turned four last week and Tabitha turned one this week! They celebrated jointly the weekend in between.

We continued our tradition of birthday barbecue:

We learned from last year that the seating for guests should be in the shade! Most of Annie’s guests she knows from preschool, plus Miriam’s family. Some delegates from the students and staff also came by, which was nice.

Not pictured, as the photographer was washing the dishes: duck-duck-goose, red light-green light, and tag games after cake, and then winding down with a short video and a banana snack. It was a fun day!

Happy birthday, girls! We love you!

Bonus: Here are some pictures from Tabitha’s birthday day, with more cake, and opening of presents.

In other Tabitha news, she’s said her first word: “buh” for book. She will stand at the shelf and pull them all down, in typical one year old fashion, but say “buh! buh! buh! buh!” with each on that falls. You can tell her “go get that book” and she will crawl over and drag it back for you. And she will ask to be read to by saying “buh? buh?”. I have several videos that are all too large for me to upload well. I’ll try again with a shorter one.

Next milestone: walking!

We like all the photos, and the windhouse is very interesting–did Brandon build it?

Oh my! Looks like a great birthday party. “Book” is about as good of a first word as I can think of–perhaps there will be another academic in the family!
Hope the Zimmerman’s are doing well
